Alliance to Benefit Medication Adherence Announced
[Philadelphia, April 23, 2007] Pleio Health Support Systems, Inc. of Montreal, Canada (www.pleio.com) and Outcomes Pharmaceutical Health Care of Des Moines, Iowa announced important strategic alliance in the area of medication adherence. The deal, which was announced at the CBI Adherence, Compliance and Persistence Conference in Philadelphia, will enable both companies to align and coordinate research and development as well as operational activities to support appropriate medication adherence by consumers.
The Pleio GoodStart™ Adherence Support System features streamlined patient enrollment at the retail pharmacy level, and coordinated multi-channel patient support tools.
The Outcomes Personal Pharmacist network enlists the patient access and clinical skills of over 7,000 pharmacists nationwide, each with specialized training in medication therapy management services.
Many healthcare stakeholders are willing but unable to connect with patients to provide them the support they need through the initial stages of new medical regimens. The alliance will bring instant scalability to stakeholders willing, but until now unable, to support large-scale patient adherence programs.
In a joint statement by Pleio CEO, Jean Lalonde and Outcomes COO, Patty Kumbera, the new partners agreed the arena of medication management and adherence is vital to patient success, and increased collaboration is necessary to bring innovation in a multi-systems marketplace.
